• Rinse your mouth gently with warm water.
• Hold a cold compress against the outside of your cheek to ease swelling and pain.
• If a tooth is knocked out, hold it by the crown, not the root. Keep it moist in milk or hold it gently in your cheek, and bring it with you.
• Save any broken pieces of tooth and bring them with you.
• Avoid placing aspirin directly on the gum or tooth.
• Go to the nearest emergency room or call 911 if you have trouble breathing or swallowing, swelling spreading to your eye or neck, or heavy bleeding that will not stop.
